Common
questions.

How long does it take?

Most embassies take 4 to 8 weeks for the entry visa. With Germany's fast-track procedure, a decision can come in about 2 to 3 weeks, and recognised Dutch sponsors get decisions in about 2 weeks.

Can my family join me?

Yes. Family reunification is faster for Blue Card holders, and partners can usually work.

Can I move to another EU country?

After 12 months, you can move to another participating EU country through a simplified process.

When can I get permanent residence?

It depends on the country. In Germany, Blue Card holders can apply after 21 months with B1 German, or 27 months with basic A1 German.
