Common
questions.

How long does it take?

In Spain, applying from inside the country gets a legal decision deadline of 20 working days; consulates take about 1 to 3 months. Portuguese consulates have a 60-day legal deadline, but 1 to 4 months is common.

Can I work for local companies?

Usually not, or only in a limited way. These visas are designed for income from abroad.

How will I be taxed?

It depends on the country and how long you stay. Some offer special regimes. We recommend advice from a tax specialist.

Can my family come?

Most countries allow dependants, with a higher income requirement.
