Common
questions.

Can my partner work?

In most countries, yes, from the day the permit is issued.

Is a language test needed?

Some countries require basic language skills for spouses, but exemptions often apply, for example for Blue Card families.

How long does it take?

In Germany, embassies officially take 1 to 3 months, and 3 to 6 months at busy posts. If your family applies at the same time as a skilled worker or Blue Card holder, it can take 1 to 2 weeks.
